How to get to UQ...

From the city:

  • CityCat: route 1 from North Quay ferry terminal (just past the casino). Very picturesque!
  • Bus: 109 or 412 from Stop 16 in Adelaide St.
  • Cost is $2.70 one-way or $5.40 for a daily ticket
  • The journey to UQ takes approximately 20 minutes from the CBD

By car:

  • Follow Coronation Drive to Toowong, keep going straight on Benson St, turn left into Sir Fred Schonell Drive. Go through the roundabout and onto the campus

Parking:

Parking at the University is strictly enforced. The conference is being held in University holidays so there should be plenty of parking available.
  • Thursday night's welcome function - closest place to park is in the YELLOW zones in Mansfield Pl and Staff House Rd. (max 1.5 hrs).
  • Friday - All day parking is available in any GREEN zone. One of the closest places to the Hawken Building is the Conifer Knoll multi-story car park near Ovals 2 & 3. Once past the roundabout, turn left at the first roundabout and follow Sir William McGregor Dr past the tennis courts and pool (near the CityCat stop). Keep going straight and you will go under the new bridge, then past Oval 3 (soccer) and Oval 2 (cricket). Take the first right after Oval 2 into Thynne Rd and the carpark is on your right. The carpark is building 98D on the university map. You are NOT allowed to park on the bottom level.
  • Hourly parking is also available in the multi-storey carparks on your right as you drive in on Sir Fred Schonell Drive. Parking is $3 per day in Green Zones and $1.30 per hour in the multi-level carparks.
  • Saturday There is no need to pay for parking on the Saturday; you may park in any spot (but not on a yellow line). The closest places will be in the Priestley Building (67) carpark, Staff House Rd and in Mansfield Place near the 412 bus stop.

After arriving at UQ...

If arriving by:

  • CityCat - arrives in between the pool and tennis courts. Walk past the pool and follow the road left up the hill, keeping the big UQ Centre on your left and the gym on your right. Schonell Theatre is at top of the hill, next to the kindy. Walk around to the right of the kindy and up to the Union Complex. Keeping the shops on your left, walk straight until you reach the road (Commonwealth Bank on left). Follow the road past the bookshop and down the hill to the left. Hawken Engineering Building (50) is on the right where the pedestrian crossing and overpass are.
  • Bus 412 - walk up the steps near the bus stop and follow the road to the right (Mansfield Place). Follow this road to the end and keep walking on the pedestrian only walkway to the next road. You will pass the Priestley Building (67) on your right, then turn right and follow the road down the hill to the Hawken Engineering Building (50).
  • Bus 109 - goes across the Schonell Bridge, arriving at UQ Lakes bus stop. Follow the path up the hill until you reach a road (Commonwealth Bank on right). Follow the road left past the bookshop and down the hill to the left. Hawken Engineering Building (50) is on the right where the pedestrian crossing and overpass are.
  • Car to Conifer Hill carpark - Head for the lake and you have two options.
    1. Keeping the lake on your LEFT, follow the path up the hill until you reach a road (Commonwealth Bank on right). Follow the road left past the bookshop and down the hill to the left. Hawken Engineering Building (50) is on the right where the pedestrian crossing and overpass are.
    2. Keeping the lake on your RIGHT, follow the road to Staff House Rd, turn right and Hawken Engineering Building (50) is on your left where the pedestrian crossing is.
