The Framework
The Queensland Association of Mathematics Teachers Inc privacy policy adopts the National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000. 2. Why QAMT collects information QAMT collects and stores personal information which is necessary to administer membership and other business activities for its members. Services include the provision of professional news, notification of conferences/workshops and resource updates. Information is collected and recorded electronically. QAMT is an affiliated association of AAMT (Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers Inc). All financial members of QAMT are also members of AAMT. QAMT forwards some information regarding its members to AAMT thus enabling AAMT to provide services to members of QAMT at the national level. AAMT is bound by the same privacy rules we follow. Information regarding the Privacy Policy of AAMT can be obtained directly from their office. (Ph. 08 8363 0288) QAMT’s organisation includes a number of Local Sub-Branches situated at locations around the State. These sub-branches are also bound by QAMT’s Privacy Policy. 3. Confidentiality Personal information is strictly confidential and is not made available to any outside organization other than AAMT except where members give specific written permission for a specific purpose. For example, members may give permission for a conference attendance list to be given to interested trade suppliers. In all other cases only office staff and Executive members of QAMT and AAMT have access to personal information. 4. Access by members Members have the right to request access to their personal information. This right is subject to some exceptions which are set out in the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000. In order to ensure the privacy and security of its members and other associates, QAMT requires any request for information to be made in writing and include your full name, address and phone number. QAMT web site QAMT’s website http://qamt.org contains links to other sites. QAMT’s privacy policy does not extend to the organisations owning these sites. A warning to this effect will be posted on QAMT’s website. 7. Email and Facsimile transmissions All QAMT’s correspondence by email or facsimile will bear the following warning: The contents of this email/fax are confidential. Any unauthorised use of the contents is expressly prohibited. If you have received this email/fax in error, please advise immediately and then delete/destroy the email/fax and any printed copies. Thank you. 8. Access to Policy Copies QAMT will provide all members with a copy of this Privacy Policy (Sections 1-5) via QAMT’s newsletter by 21/12/2002. From 1/1/2003 the policy will be printed in the first newsletter of each calendar year. The policy will also be displayed on our website http://qamt.org from 21/12/2002. |
